Building Projects: Best Practices

Define clear goals for your project

  • It it very helpful to focus a project on a specific story or theme especially. This will allow creators and viewers to easily understand the larger story arc.

Record an "intro" to ground the project

  • While the content can be viewed in sequence, through tagging, and by browsing, it is very helpful to include a brief recorded intro (video or audio) explaining the project.

Collect memories with context

  • Well-constructed memories are very engaging and viewers can loop through several at once while retaining interest. Aim for 30 memories per project. You can have more of course, but adding context (i.e. description, voice notes, tags) adds to the quality of your memories. Quality over quantity.
  • It's exciting to see a variety of memory types together (e.g. photo and video alongside a document).

Create events for the timeline

  • We recommend 6 - 10 events as a starting point. Events with at least 3 - 5 memories are typically more engaging.
